“The mission for my bust was to capture all of the flavors that define our 44th President, Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. Flavors that I can imagine have informed his life and some of the decisions he has made as a man and as the President of the United States of America. Some of those life lessons include a respect for all people while acknowledging the common threads that unite us: a need for education, equality and purpose in our lives.”
Nanette Carolyn Carter studied at Pratt Institute of Art in Brooklyn, New York, receiving her Masters in Fine Arts.
She is a tenured Associate Adjunct Professor of Art at Pratt Institute where she teaches Drawing and Mixed Media classes.
She exhibits with the G.R. N’Namdi Gallery in Chicago, Miami and Detroit with plans to exhibit in Sao Paolo, Brazil and Havana, Cuba.
