“From the plains of Africa, two animals play an important part in the natural order of the environment: the zebra and the lion. Although these species are natural enemies, they coexist. (The) bust includes representational elements that symbolize the unification of contrasting ideologies and the importance of diversity.”

An accomplished sculptor and teacher, Preston Jackson is co-owner of the Checkered Raven Gallery, home to the Contemporary Art Center of Peoria, Illinois.
​
Jackson has been a Professor of Sculpture at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago since 1989, and has served as Chair of the School’s sculpture department.
​
His work has been collected and displayed across the United States. He is the sculptor of The HistoryMakers bronze award statues.
