Want to Believe in the Power Of
“This piece, entitled Want To Believe in the Power Of, questions whether or not President Obama would be able to act on meeting the needs of his constituency. The bust features a central character holding a sign that speaks of hope and change. Another holds a sign in protest. An array of coins are used on the back to represent the needs of the community who often feel that their concerns have little value yet still believe in the power of change.”
Born in Blytheville, Arkansas, with roots in Louisiana, Najee Dorsey draws intimately on his recollections of life in the deltas for his colorful, mixed-media paintings and sculptures.
