Born in Pulaski, Tennessee, Shirley Woodson has become an esteemed artist, educator and art historian. She has been a member of the national executive board of the National Conference of Artists since 1997.
Her paintings of African American life are a part of 22 collections including the Detroit Institute of Arts, The Studio Museum in Harlem, Florida A&M University and the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History.
